With enough beds to sleep 10+ guests in both private and shared accommodations, the island is perfect for large families, special events and corporate retreats. The island offers several areas to relax, be it with a crackling fire outside in the courtyard, on the dock with friends, at the bar after dinner or maybe on the sandy beach with your kids. The charming town of Bala, Ontario offers a bakery, a butcher, the LCBO, and Foodland. For guests requiring additional services, we are happy to arrange catering, property management, cleaning and event staff.
What makes News Island an authentic Muskoka experience is the accommodations. Accommodations on the island are “retreat style”. Guests stay in one of 4 locations on the property. The Main Cottage, The Courtyard Cabin, The Ice House, The Front Cabin, and The Twin Bunkie.

The island offers something for everyone. The main cottage offers a screened in porch for quiet reading nook or afternoon nap. The two flue fireplace place offers crackling fires in both the living room and outside in the courtyard perfect for smores. The bar on the main dock has stools for 4, full size fridge and everything you need for the perfect cocktail hour. Cook up your cottage favorites in the fully equipped kitchen and share your meal with friends in the dining room that seats 10, with the most amazing sunsets down the moon river.

This is the perfect family getaway with something for everyone. Whether its the little ones playing on the beach and play ground, the older ones playing on the little pad or swimming off the dock. Or my personal favourite of watching the most beautiful sunsets in Canada, nestled in a Muskoka chair on the front bay.
